So far I've heard of 3 or 4 additional Cert Points (26, 27, 29 and perhaps 31).

But yes, so far we know that you do get more cert points at 26,27,29, and 31.

Oddly, it takes less BEP to go from 28-29 than it does from 27-28 (although the same is true for 24-25).

The populations are noticeably higher since the patch, so yes, there are plenty of players to kill. The double BEP/CEP bonus is still in effect too.

The caveat is that there are 10x more BFRs than usual because of the free imprint and the VS pop is usually >40%. There also seems to be a bug with players of BR32 making people nearby them crash. Hopefully they will fix that before lots of people reach BR32.

You don't get anything at BR32, so I really don't know why it's that rank. But people around BR32 players crash, the player itself has no arms, if they pull an AMS the equipment terms are missing, and if they fly an aircraft, it doesn't show their name with enhanced targeting. It's SNAFU right now.

Even if they did playtest the patch, this wouldn't have been detected because it's a battle rank that causes the problem. Well, unless they gave every tester a random BR, but still. Still no word from the devs on a fix. It's getting worse every day as more players become BR32.

For some Werner players it's like "haha, now your main is useless too! Not laughing or saying you should go play Werner now, are you?", which is a sad consideration really.

lol I feel like an idiot. I asked him if he got a cert point but didn't notice it in the screen shot.

BR32 bug makes PS really unplayable right now. After crashing 6 times in a row trying to log back in, I just quit for the night.

Quit after 10 crashes or so. At one point I was in Ostekake's Galaxy Gunship and all VS ahead of us went LD, you'd see them stop in midair... (probably a BR32 on our side, not in the vehicle but in the vicinity, had seen one at Sina at the time).

Refused to keep firing yelled a few "Cease Fire"'s and I think after a couple kills the others did the same thing. CTD'd shortly after anyway. There were a couple of people that kept abusing it throughout the day, LepriconJH on NC and probably a few others. Then there was a guy on TR that hacked (flying TR MAX above flight ceiling) with a char called "FixBR32andIllstophacking"... The twat.

I betcha it's something about a number limitation. 32 is one of those multiples of 2 (or something) numbers in programming (2,4,8,16,32,64, etc), which makes me wonder if there's a data type limitation or something going on.

0 -> 31 is the maximum value you can store in a 5-bit number (possibly extrapolated as 1-32 because there is no BR0). I dont know if PS actually sends a BR update with packets (it probably does... it distributes just about everything else including how much ammo is left in every opponents gun...) but if its constrained to a 5-bit value, it would also explain why some people are "Going back to noob armor" when they hit 32. wouldn't surprise me if thats whats causing some of this mess.

Whatever the problem is, its obviously not simple. If it was simple, a fix would have been released in hours or days.... And its been a while now.

Well, it can be a simple problem with a complicated as all bloody fuck fix.

If that datatype is integrated into a whole ton of programs, then converting it is probably no small task. Gotta go find every friggin reference to it and change it.

Yeah, but an IDE makes that a matter of minutes to fix. Even if you had to grep for instances and replace it wouldn't take a week.

There is something else going on here.

You'd be surprised... they dont necessarily have have access to the PS source itself - almost everything they have to change in order to make updates involve INI patches and recompiling data into PAK's and embedding into the main EXE (If it cant be done just by tweaking the server).

Anyway, they may simply have to wait for SOE to allocate a coder to look at it.

As for my 5-bit theory... the net packets PS sends back and forth are organized down to the bit level (as are most optimized network packets); it wouldn't surprise me if there was only 5-bits allocated to the structure for sending BR. BR and CR could be sent in a single byte dividing bits 0-2 and 3-7 into a compressed form. I havent explored that area of PS's network structure but thats my thought.

Yeah, but if that was the problem I'd imagine that it would only be a matter of updating a configuration element describing how to marshall and unmarshall the BR object.

The details of building the patch would seem to me to be more of an inhibitor. I've built many patches myself where the coding was the tiny and easy part of the total job of building a working patch I could distribute.

It sucks when a change of one character in one file requires a day of work to correct in a 500MB end product.

Yes you pick up a good question. I think its not enough and without it to get that rank is hard nut to crack.

Three tips for newer spammer bots:

1.) Necroposting makes you a bit obvious. Try to bump a more current and relevant topic (although, admittedly, that's a hard thing to come by around here).
2.) Using broken English not only screws up whatever message you have, it also ruins how convincing you are as an actual new person, rather than a bot. (Also fail for not even posting a link, wow).
3.) Don't put "bot" in your name.
