Splash Damage Revision
This is something that I would hope to be a simple concept that can be managed by the game engine.
I will be posting my argument for this concept in the following post to avoid making the actual concept text heavy. Actual splash damage against infantry of all armor types needs to be reduced, significantly, and instead, an propulsion system needs to be implimented. The premice is a simple one. Depending on where a character is in regards to the splash zone, they will be propelled in a straight line from the centre of the explosion. The closer to the centre, the further the character will be pushed. Damaged recieved will still increase in relation to the splash centre, but certainly not to the degrees it is now. |

Re: Splash Damage Revision
Basically, this concept is meant to be an answer to the issue of not having enough cover for infantry. It's a topic I would agree with, except that previous ideas never actually helped infantry in the CourtYard or around doorways.
I'm hoping that most people already know the other idea. It's to add more trees and shellproof bushes to the wooded areas of the continents. Whilst such an idea would help infantry out in the field. It would very quickly promote a style of gameplay that currently only exists around Warpgates. Players running in and out of an indestructable zone and getting as many cheap shots in as possible. Only it would be worse as the players running in and out of the safe zone would not be visable until they pass the barrier. My concept, if the propulsion distances don't become dramtic in scale, as they are in games like Halo, would be a much more gameplay friendly addition to the game. Firstly, players will be able to, at long last, use the existing vehicle barriers that exist in the game. Yes, they would still get hurt, but unless a vehicle gunner gets very lucky, they wont hurt anyone enough to overwhelm them. Secondly, whilst a propulsion system may seem to aid players that use splash weaponry, I would ask for more that 5 meters of propulsion in any direction from the closest possible impact of the splash. Basically, if you're behind a barrier, you would get pushed far enough to lose it's cover unless you are foolish enough to allow yourself to get close enough splash centre or the gunner gets a good shot in, in which case they deserve to uproot you from your cover. |
