Stuntick And shield

OK so, while i was running down a tower, i was suddenly surprise attacked by 3 guys using thumper with plasma :D and well... i died of coarse, killed a cloak by accident. Enough about that.

WHAT IF you could have a shield and a stunstick ? to mainly block of thumpers, bullet shots and so on. But to balance it, when you hit with the stun stick, your shield would move to away so you could hit, and making you vulnerable to open fire. Of coarse everything you would face would not be able to hit you, except for if they attacked you from behind.

riot gear, eh.. i would think plasma might be the one thing that might splash over the shields

Well as i mentioned before, everytime you would strike with the stunstick, you would move your shield away, this would make you vulnerable to enemy fire. The stunstick would probably take as much damage as the primary strike of a knife. BUT since the stunstick uses the ammo for the repairing tools, it could take about 5 - 10 on primary strikes, and 20 for secondary strikes. I was also thinking, maybe if you have your shield and stunstick, you would be able to quick sprint against a target...

Here is a picture, i have not encluded the shield, didn't know how to do that :P

Wouldn't mind beating up Plasma users with a stunstick and shield, but it would remove a big part of the fast pased fights in PlanetSide.

no, i mean plasma, being even more fluid than either liquid or gas, is likely to be unaffected by these shields, and still burn the wielder and those behind him.

plasma is the closest we have to "area of effect" damage, and would make very little sense for it to be stoppable by such a device.

Plasma can't go through the shield, so you'd just have to make the shield big enough to defend the user against the plasma.

I suppose you're going to say nurf the plasma nade now so that we can't throw it behind them and get the hit for splash damage.

but what about the stun stick? that's a melee weapon, and we don't see enough melee in the game to make it worth it... maybe use a pistol like amp with the shield, but the shield can be destroyed if it takes enough damage...

I doubt we need people being invincible... also with using the pistol with the shield, increase reload time to account for the protection, or shield is disabled when reloading?

Well you see the entire point with the stunstick was to balance it. But of coarse if you did get close with the stunstick it would do some damage. Also the Sprint idea i had, would be cool, so that you wouldnt have to just defend enabeling you could join fights to.

I was also thinking that maybe the shield could drain the plasma, and when the shield gets enough it would blow, hurting the carrier of the shield user and those close to him.

i don't think that other friendlies need to be punished for someone wanting to use a shield. :( greif isn't good
