Command and Formation Restructure
As it is CR5s reach the rank by leading small squads of ten troops into combat, and capturing bases or resecuring.
This is all well and good, but after reaching CR5, they now have the responsibility of the entire empires orders, going from 10 men to around 300 troops that they are able to command. I propose to ease this transition, by introducing a few changes to the formations of troops (squads and platoons), as well as giving CR5s a few more roles in battles. CR5s also have little point to actually leading squads and platoons, as this is a waste of CEP to other would be commanders, and a waste of BEP for CR5s who are seeking BR23. Anywho, here are my ideas: Currently we have squads and platoons, I propose that squads take a slight change, gaining a second in command, a squad Sergeant. Squad Sergeants would be a trooper who the squad lead selects to have the role. The Sergeant would be able to invite players to the squad, draw battleplans if they have the relevant CR (not able to lay waypoints) and does not earn any CEP from base hacks or resecures. The Sergeant would recieve squad lead should the original squad leader go link dead or leave the game without promoting anyone else. This would be useful for times when the squad leader is too busy fighting to lay down plans, is dead, or is recieving leadership tutorials from another player. Platoons would change to have a platoon leader in a position seperate from squads, so that the platoon leader can concentrate on overall platoon tactics, while the squad leaders order their squads around specifically. The platoon leader could only be a CR3 or above, to ensure that they know how commanding works, and have a good understanding how the game works. Platoon leaders would be able to plot new platoon waypoints for starters, covering an entire base SOI, as well as being able to write Platoon orders in a new Platoon Order bar on the HUD (similarly SLs would be able to give Squad orders in a similar new bar). PLs would also be able to lay specific squad waypoints for his squads to use, leaving it up to the SLs to decide on specific tactics, such as door breaching, which BFR to take down, etc. Platoon Leaders would be able to merge or split squads with the SLs consent and also transfer members from squad to squad, as well as recall or bind the platoon at a specific base. Platoon Leaders earn half of the CEP each squad leader earns, giving them a bonus if they are commanding three squads rather than just two. PLs are designed to lead specific base assaults. So now we have CR3s commanding 30 troops, still no where near the 300 they will be able to command when they hit CR5. So I introduce: Companies Companies are comprised of three platoons with their PLs, so up to 93 troops, along with the new Company Leader. The CL has to be a CR4 or above, and earns half of the CEP from each of the PLs, again giving them bonuses if they are leading more platoons and squads. Company Leaders can transfer squads from platoon to platoon, for example if a bunch of squads are needed at one base, its best to get those squads into the same platoon. CLs can lay new Company waypoints, spanning an entire sector of a continent. They can also take control of specific platoon waypoints, ordering specific platoons to specific targets. Again, CLs can write company orders in a new CL orders bar. CR5s would have new roles on the battlefield, being able to take command of specific bases and then able to send /comb to troops within that bases SOI, even if its an enemy SOI, giving that CR5 responsibility for that base assault. CR5s get the option of being the base commander as soon as they enter the SOI, and get a yes/no option, the first CR5 to say yes gets the command. CR5s that enter the base after the base commander CR5 can ask for command from the current commander, but only get it if he agrees or leaves the SOI or goes link dead. New CR5s would also get the option of either the Big OS or global, continental and the new /comb chat, becoming either "Active" Commanders if they chose the latter, and "Inactive" Commanders if they choose the Big OS. |

Excellent idea's.
I've been thinking about the whole "CR5 squad-leading" thing for a while now, how the best SL's are the ones who've spent time and effort leading squads to get CR, but the problem as you stated is that any CR gained by a CR5 whilst in the position of SL is wasted, what you've proposed is a realistic solution to a persistant problem. ![]()
