I remember something said last year at PSUMA about having a CR5 building in the Sanctuary, so here is an idea I've thought of that is a bit different, but it also leans towards the increase we've seen lately in large-scale Ops...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A lot of us trust in the command-abilities of CR5s on the battlefield when we're fighting for a continent...but there are others, some of which have played the game for a long time and just do their own thing, which compromises the objectives we are given, and stretches our resources (no. of allowed-players) on a map when necessary forces are needed at a base. With this in mind, I have a suggestion that I would like the opinion of both the Devs and current CR3/4/5 officers to have implemented into the game. Now most of us have used the VR-training areas of the game where we can test out our weapons and vehicles, but this only works one-way, and doesn't have quite the same effectiveness of real combat. So, would you consider a fourth training area, where CR5s could outline a plan between two forces of that empire (one for their own, the other against one of the enemy-empires), to test a large-scale operation prior to use in the gameworld? This would involve the empire to use holographic versions of an enemy-empire's tech in a "live fire exercise" (much like the current vehicle/weapon ranges), to ascertain how proficient the idea would be against other empires for real, and how well players of a lower command rank follow the orders of their CR5s. Before entering the VR-arena, players could see an overview of the situation, and then be automatically placed on either side. For the best results, a practice event would take place over a 24-hour period, with four 4-hour long games, so that no matter where you are in the world, players from all sides of the globe could get in on the exercise during one of the four games. Results of a conflict would be recorded for players of a suffcient command rank to review later, and halfway through each game, armies would switch places from attacker to defender so that players could experience both sides of how the operation would affect them. After the event is complete, CR5s could then determine whether such tactics could be used against that empire, and what day they should employ it. For those who are wondering about AI here, it would be exactly like the way it is now in the Vehicle Driving Range, except during an event, Grief Points would simply record (as opposed to penalising a player), and the conditions in the VR-arena would be identical to the normal combat conditions against another empire outside the Sanctuary. The continent for the intended Op could also be preselected by the CR5s in-charge by a pulldown menu, similar to what Squad Leaders have for waypoint commands. Essentially it would be like a large-scale Team Deathmatch, with one group in the empire taking turns to play either the attackers or the defenders... just like one clan would do for practice, before they took on an opposing clan. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Given the fact that in all VR Training areas we currently can't engage each other because of "weapons freeze", I think this area will allow CR5s to help honing the skills of lower Battle/Command ranks, as well as help to improve the direction of "where to go now" and "who to fight now, then who to fight where later". Note: this post is also on the PS Forums, located here (may need to be logged to view).
