Okay, I was thinking about what the devs said (a little while ago) about designing new bases...well I designed one. This could just be a varient of an existing base or be a whole new type of base. Feel free to critique, and what you think should be changed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The lighter gray is where thing can drive/walk/fly under...everything else is self explanatory (but if you don't understand some things tell me).

Nice I like them a lot, though perhaps the backdoor should be at a different place to the front one, so that in bases where there are smaller fights rather than zergs, you don't get people being able to defend both back and front doors too easily (as they will both appear on the radar). Oh one more thin about the BD, will there be a long corridor, or are you scarpping that to make BD defense harder?

Other ideas:
  • Underground/indoor vehicle pads, e.g. you start underground and the pad itself raises up toward the top to release the vehicle
  • More underground areas (really like the undeground tunnels to the outer towers).
  • Raised ground within bases. I don't mean more concrete, I mean flat-topped hills inside the CY that means vehicles and troops will have difficulty gaining them.
All in all, nice one!

OK here's what I meant about the BD:

And here are my own ideas for a more "enclosed" base:

In this, the dark brown/orange areas represent raised areas of land, while the lighter ones, lowered areas (in this base, trenches). The V-pad is in-doors, but reached from a arch, while the defensive towers in the corners are reached by underground tunnels. The towers are higher than the walls, and have the phoenix turrets moved from the walls to the top on these towers. While it offers more defense, it also means that droppers can drop onto these towers and storm the base through the corridor underneath.
