Hayoo posted his idea on Task forces in Planetside, and while I thought the idea was cool, I noctied it didnt really add much to game play.
*task forces* are already in game of a sort, in the way of outfits. outfits tend to have differnt styles of play, Ironfist is a vanguard outfit, rolling armor out over and over, others, like the NC dragoons, enjoy going behind the lines and giving the enemy hell to deal with.
I dont think that task forces need to be shown on the map, since a task force would have to be at least a squad of people, and squad can get very far apart from each other. the task force on the map could be confusing.
instead, I would pare task forces in with an idea i had, an in game post board at the sanc.
the whole idea behind my take on task forces is so that players can find squad they want to join faster and easier.
it works like this.
1. In game post board at the sanc lets CR2s or higher post LFM messages for their task force.
(note: a task force is not bigger then a platoon, it is simply one to three squads working together to get a common goal.)
2. the post contains what the task force will be doing, what cont it will start on, and what time to meet for operations to begin. as well as current players signed up for the task force, and what their certs are. ( commander may request certain certs)
(note: the commander will give a time on when the task force will begin, and when it is time for the task force to meet, all those signed up for the task force get an auto invite into a squad. in other words, you can sign up for a task force, then go and do something else for a bit.)
3. any player LFS goings up to the board, finds a task force, and joins it. he can choose to leave teh task force at any time.
4. the CR2 or above may look at the task force list from any where, and kick and block unwanted players.
5. when the time for the task force to start is reached, all those signed up for the task force get an auto invite.
the idea behind this is that instead of sitting around the sanc all day LFS, players can get the post board, look at what squads are heading out, join them, and then go play for a little bit, or manage their certs, or go to the VR Shooting range.
it makes finding squads faster and easier.
