This is probably your point, but I'll say it anyways.

Sadly, hardly any of that is modded. The case comes with that window pre-installed. The fanbus is something you can buy and it just slides in, no work necessary aside from plugging in your fans. The hardest part of that "case mod" was probably trying to make sure his sticker was straight and level.

Even worse, he still has a white face on his floppy. You can even buy aluminum faces to go over the floppy I think.

i'll give him that it's a custom decal, and his choice of cables was good, but other than that, you're absolutely right... the true modding has died. you don't have to build your own fanbus anymore, you don't have to dremel out a hole, you don't have to put the window in yourself, you don't even have to build circuits to control your fancy lighting.

the cool is gone, imo

Indeed it is. I was so pissed when Lian-Li began making pre-modded cases. It was right after I'd spent a weekend at my house with my dremel and holesaw modding the crap out of my Lian-Li.

case modding isn't dead. you guys just need a challenge, not these little snap-together p.o.s. mods that the ricers go home to every night. why don't you guys get a mac? hell, those aren't supposed to be modded. even so, you can do some pretty cool stuff with them provided you're not afraid of a little effort

haha, ok:

1. i TRIED modding a mac. you were there, it was your computer. tried putting it in a rackmount case.
that was such a pain it made my entire body ache (mostly from staying up wayy to late working on it)

2. i want a computer that i can peicemeal and rebuild on a whim

3. i want to play games and/or be productive, not suffer from the insomniac-boredom you do

I remember when modding was cool... back in high school.

Ahhh... memories of my water cooling system and overclocking.

Gee, and I thought I was cool Dremel-ing a bay to house a ZIP Drive in an ancient Compaq DeskPro. I was impressed I built my computer (with a minor difficulty, fixed). Thank you for the advice, Martyr!
