iTunes=Da Bloat
4MB for it's two service level applications, plus 32MB for the application
For the same MP3, it's 10MB for Winamp, no helpers.

WinAmp = shitty programming
The worst random shuffle generator I've ever seen. And actually, that's probably the most imporant feature to me in a media player. iTunes is the best, hands down.

So is a peice of software that needs 36MB to play the same MP3 than Winamp does in 10MB.
Anyways...
IPCop (http://www.ipcop.org) I like this distro better than smoothwall, which is pretty good too.

And second - if you're bitching about 26MB of RAM (which is worth it for a better program) you need to get a job and get some more RAM.

Hey, iTunes still beats Windows Media Player for shuffle-ability, I've got 11,443 mp3's, and I have a "The All" playlist... In WinAMP, I've never heard the same song twice. In WMP...I've heard the same song three times...and, suspiciously, I've only been hearing popular song...I haven't heard a song that I've not heard on the radio recently...something fishy if you ask me...
However, I must say that WinAMP really whips iTunes' @$$. Such quality with such simplicity. (with the exception of WinAMP 3...that just blew)

I have 512MB of RAM on my laptop, and 1-2GB on my other machines (the only exception is my firewall with 128MB).
RAM is not the issue, I am just not happy with iTunes, it doesn't allow me to delve into the settings like other programs (well as much I should say), and I can't create play lists, or load media on iTunes, unless I want it to be synced with my iPod (which I don't in many cases).

If RAM wasn't the issue to begin with... why the argument? :roll:

Because look and feel is subjective, processor and RAM usage is not. I also like programs that are fast and to the point without wasting resources.
Though it really doesn't matter much to me, 90% of my MP3 listening is on my iPod.
