PSU as in Power Supply Unit.

Alrighty, my computer seemingly randomly shuts the hard disk off and on, reboots itself, freezes in games that used to be smooth, and needs to 'warm up' to work right after being off for more than an hour.

As soon as I say I use Win ME all the ignoramuses jump onto the ME sux bandwagon.

The OS is not the problem, unless Win 98, DOS, XP, and Linux have the same design flaw...

Anyhoot, I pretty much figure it is the PSU slowly losing its power, it is only 380W, but that should be enough to run an Athlon 2000+, MX440, a stick of 512DDR333, a 60Gb Western Digital, and a nice old CD ROM.

It happens to the CD too, which is why I dont believe the HDD is the problem.

Any thoughts before I replace it?

bust out the multimeter and have a go at your molex, see if you find any voltage fluctuations

Did that, the Voltages were slightly below tolerances, but that was a month ago. I'lll check it again when I get back home.

it sounds like a PSU problem, as the warmup thing excludes most else, but it could be your mobo is going

Replaced the mobo, and upgrade actually, did the same thing to both.

I'll try power cleaning it and see if that fixes it, might just be packed with dust heh.

Well I'm 100% positive it's the PSU now, thing just gave out earlier today, I could tell it was on its last breath too.

So I'll be without comp at home for a lil while. :durr:
