Rumors of my demise are highly exadurated.

Anywho, I posted this... god... had to have been nearly a year ago, saying I'm considering of coming back to Planetside I thought I'd check it out. When I went to the old forums, I must admit my surprise one of those ancient threads was still alive.

Anywho... this isn't a copy of the original post completely, Im messing around with anything I spot that now sounds rediculous to me.

This is my idea on how to keep the current gameplay while allowing for more specialization.

Combat Training Specialization

Requires: BR 15

You are allowed to choose whether to remain a "jack of all trades" or if you wish to specialize.

All specializations add 5 additional cert points, but you may only spend them on certain things. You can NOT unlearn a specialization. Each specialization also allows access to new implants, armors, and tools. However it limits what certs you can learn.

Anything in (CAPS) is the prerequisite if its at the end of something.
Enables-

Covert Operations

Purpose- To infiltrate, to hack, to weaken, and to create utter chaos.

New Armors-

[Advanced Infiltration Suit]- 25 AP, 1 pistol slot, 1 built in REK slot, 6x9 inventory, cloaking ability. 4x zoom without a gun. (INFIL SUIT)

New Implants-

[Databank]- Stores extra knowledge in a chip, able to be accessed by the user at any time. Allows for the user to direct the REK through firewalls more easily, cutting Jacking time in half, and lowering all hack timers by 5 seconds (besides IFF)

[Fluorine Pockets]- Pockets filled with fluorine gas are grafted into the armor matrixes of the user. Due to fluorines high resistance to electro-magnetic fields it prevents EMP from effecting the user, and decreases the range of being sighted with DarkLight by 3m due to interference.

New Equipment-

[Seismic Sensors]- Deploy 4 of these boomerstick sized sensors within 10m of eachother to create the sensor net. Any enemy that causes a seismic vibration within this net will cause a slight beep for whomever placed the net. Sensor Shield prevents this. 2x2 for a 4 pack. (ADV HACKING)

New Abilities-

[IFF Recode]- Switches the IFF of a door to your empire for 2 minutes, making its owner have to hack it to get through. REK fire mode 2 (HACKING)

[Vehicle Hardwire]- Causes a vehicle (with people in it or not) to drive at its maximum speed for 15 seconds, possible causing it to drive itself off a cliff or into a minefield. If there is a driver, they can simple start steering it to stop this, but if there are only gunners/passengers, they just have to enjoy the ride. REK fire mode 3. (ADV HACKING)

Certs Learnable- Infiltration, Hacking, Adv. Hacking, Medical, Adv. Medical, Engineer, Combat Engineer, All vehicles, BFRs. Any certs known other than these will be un-learned.

Commando Elite

Purpose- Extended survival and increase killing ratios.

New Implants-

[Rage Stimulator]- Activates the center of the brain in control of anger, supercharging it, and causing immense hatred in the soldier, cutting stamina drain from damage/jumping in half, also increase movement speed by 20%, and jump distance/ hight by 50%. As a drawback it increase the CoF of all weapons by 40%

[Endodermic Plating]- This implant will literaly graft titanium plates beneath the soldier's skin, decreasing all health damage by 50%, but lowering speed by 50%.
It also decreases turning time by 25%

[Paralytic Enzyme]- Freezes up a soldier's muscles a bit, decreaing CoF bloom by 50%, but lowering turning time by 75%. Very effective for sniping.

New Abilities-

[Combat Training]- Makes MA automatic, freeing up 2 certs.

Certs Learnable- Heavy Assualt, Special Assault, Reinforced Exo-Suit, Sniper, Anti-Vehicular, MAXes, ATV, Harraser, BFRs, Hacking, Medical, Engineer. Any certs known other than these will be un-learned.----------------------------------------

Expert Driver

Purpose- Able with all forms of vehicles, this person is adept at taking the role of driver/pilot.

New Armor-

[Medium Exo-Suit]- 50 AP, 2 Pistol slots, 1 built in Nano Dispenser, 1 small riffle slot. 9x9 inventory. Footspeed matches infiltrator. Can enter driver posistion (duh)

New Implants-

[Databank]- Stores extra knowledge in a chip, able to be accessed by the user at any time. Allows for the user to direct the REK through firewalls more easily, cutting Jacking time in half, and lowering all hack timers by 5 seconds (besides IFF)

New Abilites-

[Basic Vehicle Training]-Light Scout and Ground Transport Automatic, taking up 1 cert each.

Certs Available- All Vehicles, BFRs, Hacking, Adv. Hacking, Engineer, Combat Engineer, Medic, Adv. Medic, Medium Assault, Infiltration Suit. Any certs known other than these will be un-learned.----------------------------

Demolisions Expert

Purpose- To blow stuff up.

New Implants-

[High Explosive Neutralization Shield] (HENS)- This will prevent mines from setting off when you walk by them.

New Equipment-

[Claymore Explosive]- A mine with a directional facing, these will spray shrapnel (think taking 2 JH shots) in a 120* arc infront of itself. They only set of if something approaches from infront of them. 2x3 outside only (CE)

[Sonic Burst Mines]- Extremely effective against armor, 5 of these will take out a gen, the difference; they have a 30 second timer before setting off. They will have little effect on troops however (30 armor damage, 10 hp damage, and pushes the troop backward 2m) they are deadly to maxes as well (2 will kill). But most of all are the affectionate nickname given to them by thier users. "BFR Busters" as these will be one of the most effective anti BFR weapons. When A BFR with its shield on steps over one of these, they will go off automatically, due to interferance from the Shield Generator. 3x3 anywhere (CE).

New Abilities-

[Rewire]- With no weapon out, a Demolisions Expert can rewire a CE deployable to thier own empire.

Proxies- 3 seconds
Boomers- Decon
Spits- 7 seconds
Motion Alarms- 5 seconds.

Certs Available- Hacking, Medical, Engineer, Combat Engineer, Ground Suport, ATV, Harraser, Assault Buggy, Light Scout, Mosquito, Medium Assault, Special Assault, Infiltration Suit. Any certs known other than these will be un-learned.

Hijacker

Purpose- To steal from the enemy empires.

New Armor- [Advanced Infiltration Suit]- 25 AP, 1 pistol slot, 1 built in REK slot, 6x9 inventory, cloaking ability. 4x zoom without a gun. (INFIL SUIT)

New Implants-

[Databank]- Stores extra knowledge in a chip, able to be accessed by the user at any time. Allows for the user to direct the REK through firewalls more easily, cutting Jacking time in half, and lowering all hack timers by 5 seconds (besides IFF)

New Equipment-

[Recoding Matrix Tool](RMT)- This tool has the ability to convert terminals to the users empire, the converted terminals are considered neutral in terms of grief points when attacking them. Both empires can use the rematrixed object.

Spawn Tubes- 1 Per Hijacker, 7 Minute Ownership. 50 Second Rematrix.
Equip Terminal- 2 Per Hijacker, 5 Minute Ownership. 20 Second Rematrix.
Cert Terms, Med Terms, Implant Terms- 3 Per Hijacker, 2 Minute Ownership, 15 Second Rematrix.
Vehicle Terminal- 1 Per Hijacker, 3 Minute Ownership, 45 Second Rematrix.
Phalanx Turret- 3 Per Hijacker, 5 Minute Ownership, 60 Second Rematrix.

[Advanced Vehicular Training]- A hijacker learns all vehicle certs at 1 cert less than normal.

Certs Available- All Vehicle Certs, BFRs, Hacking, Adv. Hacking, Infil Suit, Medical, Engineering. Any certs known other than these will be un-learned.

Remember- This is an option given at BR15, if you choose to specialize, its permanent. You will become very useful in the field you choose. But not specializing means you can shift with the tides of battle. Cert a different vehicle or gun if needed. Remain as the "jack of all trades" which can be useful. All items described in the specializations are NOT usable by non-specialized players, and are only useable by the class they are in.

{Added}: I've had a change of heart, total choice tends to be a turn off in planetside, so, At BR 20 you can choose to remain specialized, change field of specialization, or go back to being normal. After that, you can choose to change whenever you like HOWEVER, there is a 240 hour wait to change back. Thats right, 10 days. That means you can't just shift around, if you really hate something you can get out of it, but not back into something else for 10 days.

Good ideas all in all but not being able to unlearn WILL scare some players.
