I like serious anime. I like serious manga. I don't like anime where the characters are bug-eyed purple-haired nine-year-olds that pilot giant robots into the heart of the universe to fight a demon living in non-euclidean time and space and constantly scream AIEEEEEEEEEEE and have speed lines when they're taking a dump.

You get the idea.

I'm not here to shit on anyone liking anything resembling the aforementioned, I'm merely using it as a qualifier for any ensuing recommendations. In fact, that's what I would like from this thread: recommendations for serious anime and manga.

What kind of serious anime and manga do I like?

Like: Ghost in the Shell: SAC
Dislike: s-CRY-ed

Like: Spirit of Wonder
Dislike: FLCL

Like: Samurai Executioner
Dislike: Samurai Champloo

Like: Berserk
Dislike: Trigun

Essentially, I like anime/manga that keeps a fairly serious air about it. I'm NOT saying I don't like anime with attitude or humor, but I sure as hell don't want the main character to go chibi and start drooling when they see a riceball or pair of knockers and then scream for fifteen minutes.

Giant robots? I like 'em. Big-O in particular. Giant robots with teenage boy eye candy riding them with a purposeful air of sexual ambiguity about them? I'll pass. Medieval fantasy adventure with comedy relief? I can dig. Medieval fantasy where the one hopelessly attractive female constantly grows dark in the face and beats her courters with her fist which has mysteriously turned into a fleshy sphere? No thanks.

i love this boy so much.

and i'm not regretting this admittance because i've felt this way for close to 2 months now.

he has hinted things, even straight out asked me if i love him,
but everytime something gets mentioned, i get so nervous and i deny deny deny.

the psychic said some really really crazy things about the 2 of us.
i was going to write everything the psychic said, but i think it's more personal.


however -- he did make mention of a scorpio, few years older than me, of a different ethnicity . he says if i don't succomb to the many temptations i am presented with and we are still together by january, he sees us getting married when i'm 23. that is scary, but at the same time -- i can see myself marrying someone like chris. he's amazing and ugh..

i don't want any material gifts for my birthday. i'd take an 'i love you' out of his mouth anyday.

maybe he doesn't love me and that's why he's not saying it.. but it's been 4 months of us being together // 5 months of us knowing each other. shouldn't he know by now? and if he doesn't love me yet, i'm starting to wonder if he ever will. ugh, i can't even think about it -- it makes me so sad :(

I offered to help out for an upcoming anime con and the place they needed someone at was the hentai room. I've been tasked with picking out four hours worth of hentai and I'm really not up on this.

Sure I know about La Blue Girl and Cool Devices and some of the Soft Cell stuff from my college days, but since I have this task I'd like to do it well and put on the very best hentai-fest I am able. What are some real winners in the hentai category? I need to pick out four hours' worth. Oh, avoid Yaoi stuff because I think that's getting its own room and I'd rather not have overlap if possible.

The last two cons I went to there was one that seemed to be very popular with the audience. I don't know what it's called, but I'm sure you guys will. It involves a guy who is almost killed by some chicks who are doing some bizarre ritual to him and then he gets his payback on them, but the thing that will probably help you identify it best is that he poses as a delivery man and ends up blackmailing all the women into getting in a big cardboard box. By the third or fourth time he does this, there's always some smartass in the audience who yells, "Put her in the box!" and the crowd goes wild. What's that one called? Nevermind the fact that every fanboy has seen it at every con, it seems to be a staple.
