Hi again,
I'm pleased to announce that the Syndicate Radio Network will be playing host to the first community based developer interview in quite some time. After speaking with Zatozia on the matter, it's been determined that the interview will be held Friday, June 24th at 20:00 EST, 17:00 PST. The interview crew, as of this point in time, will consist of Hayoo, martyr and myself. (Note: The list will more than likely change/grow as the date of the interview grows closer)
Prior to the show, SRN DJ and almighty shoutcast guru, TotalBiscuit will be hosting an hour long segment of Rock Biscuit. If you enjoy music or British accents, be sure to tune in.
Seeing as it's 4 in the morning, I've probably managed to forget something, so be sure to check back in on this thread with some frequency.
Also: I've been looking for like half an hour, and I'll be damned if I can't find the url for the station. I use WinAmp of course, but I xan't find the URL in the forums or the site. :-/
heh, because the 24th is the launch of the station. it isn't running yet.

Another bit to add on, if you'd like to write up some questions that you'd like answered by the devs, throw 'em here. Provided it doesn't get too full, I'll add all of 'em into the interview.

I believe mentioning the recent onslaught of SWG advertising could stand a mention here.
And I actually can't think of any questions I'd like asked at this time....y'all got the bases covered.

Ask about a stat feed. I have not heard from SOE in nearly three months now. I am guessing that a working stat site is not very high on their list of priorities.

Include a note about merit data
If merit data can be included in the feeds, PSStats/Syndicate may just be able to open up a new stat sig service...

is there an actual server-address for where the radio station will be hosted (so annoying PSS site-helpers like myself can have a look at the setup before it goes live)?

SamhaynePS - Well yes, always a popular topic and I agree that well, the bases we have became a bit stale oh, umm, probably about 18 months ago (if you have been with us since the start).
SamhaynePS - Anyway, we are, unfortunately, not making a ton of headway on that front of recent so well.. I don't have much in the way of dates or expectations for base redesign at this time.
I'll be there...somehow. :-D

I'd like to see several things asked.
Once upon a time, a mention was thrown out there about a possible upgrade/variant made for the Sunderer much in the vein of the Deliverer. As it is, the Sunderer is the least-utilized vehicle in Planetside, as it has less effective armor than a Galaxy, inability to hit close-in targets because of its low turret depression, and doesn't offer many advantages to just moving in from an AMS. Because of these and other factors (such as only middling armor,) the Sunderer is a most often clear and sound failure in its mission to deliver Rexo and MAX units into a base safely and soundly.
Are any plans still out there to upgrade, help out or variant the Sunderer? Some of my personal thoughts (I don't think all of these should be applied, but jus tossing ideas out): reducing the amount of damage the Sunderer takes from mines to a minimal amount, as its undercarriage is designed to deflect explosive damage; making a third gunner spot with an "EMP Bomb" to destroy mines and neutralize armor threats attempting to destroy the Sunderer; giving a flat armor increase; restoring mow capability for it; re-doing the weapons to give them a close-up focus rather than artillery/shelling. Come on. Give the truck some love, if for no other reason than to give me a justification for playing the A-Team theme on TS.
Any thoughts on reducing the amount of OS out there? So many offensives stall these days because it seems the OS is incredibly frequent and AMS's blow up within two minutes of their placement. It's no longer the thrilling spectacle it used to be. Perhaps reducing the players' usage to once every 72 hours?
I'd like to see the entire AV MAX concept be re-envisioned. I don't think AV MAX was ever a good idea. MAX suits are intended for defensive positions and heavy indoor assault. I especially don't like it that AV MAXes are mostly used "because the infantry one's on a timer" and only by people with Unimax. I don't think they very frequently perform an efficient job at all (certainly not 3 cert points worth) of taking down enemy vehicles, and I don't think they should. I'd like to see it go back to how the TR MAXs were at release: two AI MAXs and one AA MAX per empire, except the "AV" MAX does splash damage and a little bit less. The NC AV MAX gets a damage boost and a "rocklet-like" fire-all mode; the Pounder gets its damage upped again and the ROF nerfed and the VS MAX gets splash damage and a damage boost.
As it is, I'd rather spend 5 cert points on taking AI and AA MAX than 6 on Unimax. That shouldn't be the case.
Considering how rare it is that one empire manages to lock both home continents of an enemy, I think it'd be neat if the benefit for this (vehicles and weaps of the enemy for one day) were split - for example, if TR capped Solsar, they'd get NC weaps for a day; if they capped Hossin, they'd get vehicles for a day. I think this would create better fighting on the "non-benefit" continents and give a more forceful reminder that, yes, the empire's welfare does matter.
What's the most likely scenario for Planetside's future - a new traditional expansion ($19.99 price point), the "Adventure Pack" model that SOE seems to be moving to as an entity ($4.99 mini-expansions), a sequel or just continuing live support? I'm not asking that plans for any of these (if there are any) be explained, I'm just interested in which one Zat/Sam would see most likely.
Finally, is Tabula Rasa (a new MMOFPS being developed by NCSoft) of any concern to you guys?
I'd like them to consider:
-- A complete lattice change, just to make us think a bit more
-- Timing on base redesign. Can we have more variety in layouts?
-- Ability to assign functionality to ranks -- who can invite, kick, promote, etc.
-- Word on what's happening, if anything, with Oshur
-- Word on that stealth airship
-- Outfit Alliances. Make it so we can chain platoons.
-- NEW MAPS!! I want lunar bases with adjacent space stations with spaceships (and battles) in between.
-- A written test you have to pass to get CR5 (I'd be happy to submit the questions)

What are some of the dev's key points for bringing back the player base that has drifted to other games?
What's the chance of getting more outfit ranks and the ability to assign who assign who can invite, kick, promote, etc.
Any other ideas on how to remain competitive with games like BF2 coming out which are... mind blowing.

Yes, by all means. Give the FV an aircraft signature so AA can be used on it. Then it can use Air Towers to repair/rearm. :P
I got an old drawing somwhere on my computer of when the old lattice and how it EXACTLY worked, it was deep and it explained why certain things were done certain ways. what id like to know is if they have plans for revamping the lattice so that it must be done tactically with logical thought and that capturing one continent will matter again.

Personally, I'd most like to hear what they have in mind for the LFS feature and how far they're willing to go with a command system. Outfit alliances, ce tracker *cough*, ability to truncate the killspam; want to hear it all.
