View Full Version : Post your Rig
So I started this thread back on the good old PS Tech forums so I thought we'd get one started up here.
Lets see your best PlanetSide Modded PC's if you got em'.
Maybe someone will come out with a nice tube looking one that looks like a spawn tube?! O_O
i built my current PC two years ago with planetside in mind... stay tuned for our next feature, "moron misled by marketing":
dual HT-ready 2.4ghz xeons
2 (now 1)gb ddr
asus geforcefx 5900
20, 40, 80gb ide hdds
broken creative dvd-rom
4u steel case, 530w fortron psu
I'm upgrading this summer... so I might as well post that seeing as my current PC is over three years old and isn't worth mentioning:
AMD Althlon 64 4200+ 2.2GHz Dual Core
1GB PC-3200 DDR
MSI Neo4 Platinium SLI Motherboard
Dual GeForce 6600GT Video Cards
160GB SATA2 HDD (x2)

I'll spare you guys my Rig details, cause you'd get a heart attack if you knew what I'm using lol.
And no, it's not that good :p

AMD AthlonXP 2700+ @ 2.2ghz
2 gigs PC2100 RAM
GeForceFX 5950 (so upgrading this summer x_X)
...I forgot my mobo and hard drive stats. I know one of the drives is going though, so that's gonna get replaced.
I pretty much haven't gotten to do a huge upgrade for over a year now. Makes me sad. :(
joel, you never told us what you're running.
also, i'm in the market again, and this time i want a box that really handles planetside well (instead of falling for that "runs great on HT" marketing crap, like i did last time)
my video card is one model older than the one neo's embarrased about, and my xeons are obviously not geared towards planetside, my ram is too expensive to expand, and nobody ever made a pci-x anything.
i'd like an athlon 64fx machine, 2gb ram, and a nice ati card (nvidia has pissed me off) for under $500. don't need drives or power. no onboard audio.
so... someone point me at a mobo and video card?

Athlon 64 3000+ 939 (1.8 stock currently @ 2.3ghz - Goes to 2.7 PI/Folding/ stable but theres no need for that all the time)
DFI Ultra D ( Modded for SLI - even though I don't have nvidia cards)
PCIE X800 XT PE
1GB Kingmax HArdcore PC4000
1x SATA 120gb Segate

Sure you're not, XP-M's are BEASTS when overclocked.
Anyway, my rig -

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (Thoroughbred B core)
Coolermaster HHC-001 Heatsink with 80mm fan adapter and Thermaltake Smartfan II (Was the only fan I could get commercially and was cheaper than a new HSF, not a bad fan)

ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb (Sapphire)
Creative Soundblaster Audigy

If you have two machines, get a KVM.

Guess I'll post mine afterall than:
P4 2.4 Ghz
512 MB RAM
GeForce Ti 4200
I get like 50-60 FPS in very small battle, 40 in a small one, and than it goes down hard to 10-20 in the zerg fights.
My rig stinks. :(

Your ram isn't in dual channel if its two different sizes/sticks. You'd be much better off with a matched pair of 512's.
