View Full Version : New VR Training
Now PS is a great game and I like loads of others love it, as a player you want to get better in most aspects of the game right. Well, the VR in the Sanc's help practice your weapon aim, understanding of weapons and vehicles, your driving skill and can be just a chill moment from the outside world (well for me it is...), but we are very limited to what we can do (Shoot some targets which dart from spot to spot and dance around or Drive around shooting at everything we're told not to).
More to the point ( finally) i think it would be great to add some new VR training sim's, targets which actually shoot back would be great! Even a little tornament mode where you could compete against others. It would beat the hell out of the bugged out Training mode you select when you start the game.
Some rough ideas about what would be great VR modes (IMO of course)
VR Shooting Range (Got this)
VR Driving Range (Got this)
VR Shoot Out Range
(Select what weapons you want and targets you want to fight AND they shoot back )
VR Tornament Range
(Range where you compete in some way against other players)
VR Other Empires Weapons Range
(Just like 1st VR shooting Range but you can try out other Empires weapons for certain period of time)
Im sure there are loads of ideas for great VR sim's but thats just a few, Feel free to give more ideas...
This is definately something would like to see change.
From the way I see it, Offline Training should be removed from the game and implimented into the Sanctuary. Various reasons for this. The primary one being that you are basically recieving two methods of learning the game, but one of them (offline training) never get's updated, is buggy, and loses consistency with the game you end up logging on to play.
Now, in my head, the whole 'Training' aspect of the game needs a revamp, and this goes hand-in-hand with redesigning the sanctuary.
As you are aware, the devs are redesigning the facilities. Now, me being the nostalgic bastard that I am, I don't actually want to say goodbye completely to the existing designs. Instead, I would like to see all five designs on the sanctuary and each one should be used as a training ground for various elements of the game (much like Offline Training). Basically each facility would have missions that ease the player into the game, teaching them the rules and removing misinformation some new players get from the "funny" vets.
Obviously this sort of change would force the sanctuaries into the centralised layout that the devs removed for the sake of FrameRate and lag issues, but I intend on looking at the sanc maps at a later date and seeing exactly what can be done to keep things managable.
Now, as you've clearly demonstrated with your view, 'Training' isn't only used for teaching new people what to do. It's also needed for people train with new weapons, practise tactics and to just compete.
Woah  that was deep thinking it took me 20mins to type that up and you explained it under 3 mins...

i believe you should work for those weapons..
unless, you put lockers in VR and allow you to take out enemy weapons (YOU STOLE) so you must EARN them to use them

The edit button is your friend.
And personally I lean more to Straws idea for a revamped VR than towards yours Slick just because as the devs have said before about these kind of ideas they don't really want to have a game inside a game and I tend to agree, it's kind of like a Baseball videogame.
Drive around shooting at everything we're told not to).
missle spam dogfights with reavers, my friend, great practice, and no freakishly annoying message about friendly fire.
Also, yeah lockers in VR would be cool, but could you use them?
Cause while in the VR training area, you can use every weapon that is available to your empire not depending on ur certs, so could I use a VS lancer if all I have is sniper and I'm NC?
At least, if you can try them, not get xp for using them for the first time. I'm not the only one in the world who got at least 3 of their 1st 4 levels just in VR, using items.
I always thought that the vehicle area of the VR could do with some cool areas, like a roman colosseum. Maybe a simulation room that could be changed to be like various continents. How would a VR that doesn't train you to fight in magma covered areas help you at all when you head to solsar,
more in a bit
I guess you could use whatever weapon you pick up and put in locker seeing you are in the VR...
But Raises Questions about Ammo for VS weapons...
Coulb be given ammo to (Insert Weapon) via Equip term...
Would like to see an Outfit VR training area added where a outfit could train to work togeather as a team without anyone else interferring with the training. My old outfit tried training on tower taking in sanc and we got these noobs just running us down to annoy us.
The outfit leader (or those ranks he chooses) can access the VR interface and select what they want to train on i.e. says what type of base and tower/s they want, vehicle/weapon options and enemy vehicle/infantry options. Then the oufit can enter the VR as an option to do some training as they want in peace.
Would also like to see bases/towers in normal VR as well. Also enemy vehicles/infantry in the vehicle VR with the use of all weapons so can test out how effective spits, boomers and mines are and best placement areas etc.

Use the test server, less problems.
