I am kind of wondering if we should have more CR capability in the cave. Specifically, I think that after CR5, it should be possible for SL's to get to CR10, but the only hacks that count toward it are cave hacks. And of course, new abilities as follows.
1. CR6 gets reveal friendlies in the caverns
2. CR7 gets a small EMP burst in the caverns
3. CR8 gets reveal enemies (short distance) in the caverns.
4. CR9 gets a buff to the EMP burst.
5. CR10 gets a larger distance for the reveal enemies.
Also, someone suggested that at CR10, perhaps there should be a "teleport squad" option that can be recharged every 5 hours, to teleport everyone in your squad to a friendly base of your choosing. opinions?

Hmm, nice suggestions, not everyone has CC though (not SOE's fault I know) which put's them at a disadvantage (same with BFR's).
I don't think teleport squad is a good idea, maybe just yourself.
Maybe instead of CR points, make CCR (Core Commander Rank). These will be 1 - 5 in the order you set.

You can make fun of my idea, but it makes more sense than basing the next 5 command ranks on the caverns alone. And I'm bwzman not soandso. You don't have to be rude and use sarcasm to get your point across.
I'm sure he wasn't trying to be mean-spirited, as I surmise by the tongue-smile.
These are all interesting ideas and adding more types of rank (such as Support..or another type of command) isn't illogical and is favored by many who play the game. Let's try to be clear in our posts if were just ribbing someone playfully or if it's true disagreement. We want to avoid missunderstandings and nurture our discussions.

anyway...it just seems easier to make a new Command Type, that way they can expand on the main Command Rank with stuff, without having to make it Core combat required.

Sorry if you took offence, none intended. I was just pointing out that the list was getting longer with all the things we keep adding. And Soandso is just a random person, not you.
I don't think this is the thing I forgot but, what about global WP's? Like normal WP's but everyone can see them, useful for showing up enemy AMS's, bases to attack and so on. (maybe one of the other ideas [like com officer] could tie in with this, they would be able to see these as well (enemy one's).
OR
Multiple OS's, like small ones (smaller than CR4) but about 4 of them at the same time. Or just split the one they have now, 1 at full power, 2 at half power each and so on.
OR
Be able to call the HART when ever you want (from sanc.)
OR
A.) Be able to link up with other CR+'s to share reveal enemies (ATM CR5 does the whole cont. right?) on other cont's.
B.) Able to share their reveal enemies for the cont. with other CR's
OR
Be able to view support vehicles on the map, like AMS's, ANT's and Routers. Like a reveal friendlies but on all the time. With increasing CR, from 6 onwards, they can view the staus of these (AMS - Deployed or moving, ANT - Full or Empty, Router - Active or moving + location of pad) and then view the owners name, so they can send /tells for reports.
These are just a few quick ideas I had whilst writting the original reply, I still can't think of the idea I forgot though :angry:.

I dont think CR5's should get more abilities on the surface, we have enough already. However, i think granting new CR levels would keep CR5's commanding squads, and interested in a new ranking system. Also, it would provide benefits only useful in the cave, which might get more people to buy CC, so it would help sony get more income, however, now that aftershock is out, its sort of a moot point.
I'd always thought that reveal friendlies works in the caves, is this not the case anymore? weird. I'll have to try that tonight. It should be across the board, but oh well.
But more CR levels? Sure, it'll keep people coming back for more...so long as CR isn't tied to unit leadership anymore.
I've always felt that CR and it's abilities should be treated like implants, as nice-to-haves but not necessary to filling a role: i.e. commanders of large groups should get broadcast abilities and data options to help lead them, rather than needing to be high CR.
This is at the core of my Command Abilities section, that (just like BR), it doesn't matter what level you are, you can still beat the other guy by being better at what you do.
I'll have to think on whether to add extra CR ranks to the overall concept on Idealab. ...At least I'm assuming this idea was posted in the 'published' boards for that reason. :-P If not, this probably should go in the Wishlist section.
